Nanna's Notes

Saturday, April 11, 2009

This is Easter weekend.  I am remembering past Easters.  My sister and I always had new dresses and bonnets and usually a new purse.  We had two Aunt and Uncles that did not have children so we were their "children".  One Aunt and Uncle bought us each a corsage to wear on Sunday.  We would go to the other Aunt and Uncle's house where they had bought a dozen Bantam chicken eggs for us to dye.  It was so much fun to see what different colors we could come up with.  We looked forward to this and our Aunt did as well.

We were fortunate to have such a loving family to grow up in. I hope we are expressing that to our beautiful granddaughter. God is so good!!

Happy Mother's Day!
I am truly blessed to have such sweet daughters! They still want to do things with their "old" mother and sometimes even enjoy it!
Friday evening they spread my pine needles in my yard for me. I tried but it hurt my knee moving around so much so they finished the job. The yard looks nice. Now if someone would just want to buy it :(.

What a week I have had! After having knee pain off and on for about a year, the family finally convinced me to go to an orthopedic surgeon. I did and he told me that I need a total knee replacement. With no insurance, that was scary, but we have talked to FMH and they are going to work with us. My surgery is scheduled for June 25. Of course I had signed up for a 1 mile walk for the Susan G. Komen race on Saturday. Our girls and I walked with a group from GMAC. It was not so bad, but I really paid for it on Sunday. My knee has never hurt so bad. This morning it is some better.

Another of the 4 Carolina Muskateers died, Hines, and his funeral was on Saturday also. What a busy day. Now just Eddie and Jack are left. That will be strange when the UNC games start.

Julianna is growing up way too fast! She is understanding so much that we tell her and can say several words. Of course she wants her way too. We need to work on that. Love and consistency might help.

Got to get some things done. They have really gone up with the Summit. We need to pick out cabinets and countertops and wall and floor coverings by June 1. I guess my beach trip is postponed too because of the surgery...... and this is retirement?

Whew! Where has the time gone? The little girl has grown up! She can walk and giggle and talk and is into everything. We are enjoying having her with us so much. She loves to be outside and we try to keep her there as much as possible.

Yesterday, we sat in the grass and saw lots of lady bugs. She would let them crawl on her arms but try to catch them and eat them! Just when she got one to her mouth, the ladybug would crawl away. When it would fly away Juliann would move her arm like she was flying.

She is adorable!

I have not posted since my family found out I have a blog and have posted it everywhere that I have one! How annoying. I didn't start this to have everyone read it--just to "keep notes".

The days are so busy! Working at the Library, Open Arms and taking care of little J. I am not complaining, just wishing for more hours in the day....

Okay I have not been feeling too good this week, but little J has been fussy too. I really worry about her and her spitting up. When she was so little I didn't worry about the spitting up but now she can hold her head up and she is eating solid foods and she STILL spits up. . . even hours after she ate! Sweet potatoes looks nasty mixed with milk.
