Nanna's Notes

Saturday, August 26, 2006

Where do the days go? Julianna was such a sweet little girl this week. She slept 3 hours one afternoon! I kept going in to see if she was breathing and of course she was. Maybe she is trying to stop one of her naps or maybe she was just tired. She still spits up a lot, but I don't really guess it is bothering her. Maybe Courtney will ask the doctor when she goes for her 6 month checkup.

Wow, she is already 5 months old. It just seems like yesterday that Papaw and I were looking for reasons to go to see the little one and just hold her and let her sleep in our arms. She has changed so amazingly fast! She rolls over and scoots around. Before long she will be crawling or maybe just walking.

Another week gone. We are so blessed to spend the time with her. She reaches out for Papaw and loves to be outside with him. I can't wait until we can take her to some music classes or the library.....

What an afternoon! Julianna is still spitting up and I don't know what the problem is. It just might be the different formula she is drinking.

She took naps today but when Courtney came in she let her cry for an hour. She said she had to let her stay there for an hour after she started crying! Now what is that going to teach Julianna? that no one comes when she needs you? I don't agree but I am just the Nanna!

She really is becoming alert and knows who people are. She is a doll and I get to take care of her during the day...hooray!

Yesterday was crazy. I had a hair appointment at 9, Jack had an investor coming to meet with him at 12 and have lunch, Julianna was coming at 11:30, Jack had a meeting about our new condominium at 4 and we were going to dinner with my sister at 6! Whew! We got it all done, but it was crazy.

Julianna has been spitting up like mad! She is drinking a different kind of formula and I think that is what is causing it. Her dad thinks it is the rice cereal she is on. Courtney will call the doctor today and we will find out what to do.

Today she walked with Papaw and grinned a lot and watched the cat. She is napping now and must be having a good nap because she has been quiet for 45 minutes so far. She is a real sweetheart. We got some pictures from my husband's brother of his grandson. He was born 10 days after Julianna. Of course we think ours is the cutest, prettiest, sweetest, smartest.......you get the picture :)

Courtney has a cold and is stressed already and the kids don't even start until tomorrow. I know it is hard being a new mom, but as I told her this morning, I still worry about her and her sister and they are 28 and 25. Some things never change.

Friday was a great day with Julianna! She slept so good, even when she woke up with the cleaning people looking at her! She went back to sleep and slept for an hour afterwards! She woke up so happy and then had a good hour and half nap after that.

We went to dinner with Courtney and Jonathan and she was laying on the seat in Carrabbas squealing! She was just a joy! Who knew that grandchildren could be so precious? Okay so most of you knew that already, I am just learning...

Julianna was such a joy today. I know Courtney was mad at me yesterday since I fed her too early and she didn't sleep as long as she should have, but she just didn't want to sleep!

Today she had two very long naps and was so happy and sweet. We watched the trees and listened to the bugs talk outside. She still likes the ceiling fans better. I know she is getting used to Papaw taking her for a walk every day-at least once and sometimes twice.

Today Papaw had to take care of Julianna before I got home from a doctor's appointment. He was putting her sleepsack on as I walked in. He layed her down in the crib and walked out. It has been 30 minutes and I have not heard anything out of her. He said they had already been on a walk this morning.

Yesterday Julianna didn't sleep very soundly. She was not very happy but wasn't cranky or crabby as you would have thought she would be. She is solemn when she is tired.

It is such a joy to see that smile from her each morning! She is so sweet and loving.

Papaw and Julianna took their normal walk this morning. Jules came home very tired...so did Papaw. He says she thinks he is a jumping toy when he holds her facing forward. They count cars and trucks as they walk.

She went to sleep a little early for her nap. She is awake now after 55 minutes and is talking to something. She sounds so cute! This is such a joy and blessing for us to be able to keep her and watch her change every day. We thank her mom and dad for sharing with us!

Julianna came in this morning smiling. Papaw took her for a walk after we played in the floor with the stuffed animals and "talked" to the fan and windows. She doesn't like to read before naptime, but it is not a problem to lie her down to nap. I love her so much!

Aunt Whitney comes home today and Julianna is excited!

Jack and I were so excited to get to keep our first grandchild! I couldn't sleep last night. Today was Julianna's first day. Our daughter, decided to go back to work parttime. She is a teacher at a Christian School and is teaching from 12:30 until 3:00. This week is meeting week and her schedule is different.

Jules came at 7:45 and left around 1:30. She was an angel! Now I know every day can't be this way but she could not have been sweeter. She took 2 naps and rolled over and over and squealed. She was so happy! I am sure we are going to spoil her!
